Can the Apple iPad resurrect the publishing industry?

Even before Apple’s tablet hit the shelves back in May, there was feverish debate as to whether it was going to revolutionise the publishing industry.

Several newspapers including The Guardian, The Times and La Repubblica launched apps on the same day the iPad went on sale, in an effort to capitalise on the new platform from the off.
IPad sales hit three million in little over 80 days after its release, suggesting that consumers clearly believe in the product.
