A few fellow authors and I had been approached by a company called DIP Publishing. Quite a few red flags went up, so upon doing a bit of online research, DIP appears to be nothing more than a vanity publisher. Things like this go back to the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is." Any unsolicited offers received from "agents" or "publishers" should always be checked out before agreeing to any terms.
Barbara Bentley was featured July 28 on the Investigation Discovery cable channel show Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?, discussing her 14-year marriage to con man John Perry. You can read more about Barbara's story in her book A Dance With the Devil: A True Story of Marriage to a Psychopath
Kirby Gate's book Lost The Plot reached #10 in its respective category on Amazon UK not long after the book became available for sale this past week.
Julie Titus' son appeared on Fox News Boston July 27. The fourth grader wrote a book, which all royalties benefit Habitat for Humanity.
New Beginnings by Johanna Nield was featured on Daily Cheap Reads July 26.
Shalini Boland's Hidden reached #27 on the Barnes and Noble Nook Book charts this past week.
Janice Donnelly's local paper, Larne Times, did a lovely feature on Buying Time. The story was also placed it in their sister paper Carrick Times.
My news for the week:
The Cruiserweight reached #57 July 27 on Amazon UK's Top 100 Kindle Store best sellers in Individual Sports - Wrestling.
Fifty and The Cruiserweight placed second and third respectively on BookBuzzr's June 2011 Full Screen and Most Read Top Ten book charts.
